In August 1968, five visionary women came together in Brooklyn, NY, united by a shared commitment to the values of friendship and service. Phyllis Mills, RN (President 1969-1972, 1979-1980), Gloria Rose Eddy, RN (President 1973-1974), Sylma Nelson, RN, Matjory Jeffrey, RN, and Kirby Theodore, RN, recognized the need for a supportive organization that could make a lasting impact on both the nursing community and the broader society.
